Various Yoga Styles taught in Teacher Training Courses

Yoga means different thing to different people. Some associate the word yoga with rest and relaxation, others associate it with calmness, some associate it with meditation while some associate the word with discipline. There are many different aspects to yoga. To the untrained eye it may just look like flexible people holding fancy poses but to the trained eye, it is much more than that. Yoga is a wonderful medley of many different bodily functions coming together in perfect unison to induce a unique feeling of control and calm all at the same time. Different yoga institutions specialize in different types of yoga. There are forms of yoga that are extremely intense while others are low key. But don’t be fooled by the mellow nature of some form of yoga. They are much more powerful than they look and can produce overwhelming effects.

Abhinam yoga
Vinyasa Flow Yoga in Goa is a rather unique branch of yoga which focuses more on how breath relates to movement and the flow of one position into the other. With practice, anyone can hold a position but only a trained yoga practitioner can flow effortlessly from one position into the other with appropriate stress and control over his or her breathing. In order to fully understand Vinyasa Flow Yoga one must first attempt to understand the meaning of the word “vinyasa.” It refers to a slow progression or an approach the takes one slowly from one position into the next with appropriate techniques and body posture. People often confuse Vinyasa Flow Yoga for power yoga when in truth they are both quite different. “Power yoga” is a general term given to any type of yoga that has intensive and rigorous body movements. Whereas, Vinyasa flow is a style that is adopted by many other forms of yoga. The most common combination perhaps is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

Restorative yoga is another yoga style that makes use of some postures that are considered “restful.” It goes without saying that the primary purpose of restorative yoga is to leave your body feeling restored. These are the more relaxed poses and require little or no effort to hold. In fact they feel so good that one is tempted to stick to those poses from time to time. Hatha yoga is yet another style of yoga. In this type of yoga the focus is on doing exercises that are meant for building physical and mental strength. It makes use of certain pre-defined postures.

All these and more styles of yoga are taught by many different yoga teacher training institutes. It is no secret that yoga teacher training courses in India is quite the popular affair.
